At Northside we encourage, “See a Need, Fill a Need!” In other words, if you see a need, ask yourself, “is God making me aware of it so that I can fill it! When the church began in Acts 2, it was clear from the start that Christian's were people who identified “needs” and did everything they could to meet those “needs.”
Acts 2:45 says, “They [first Christians] gave to anyone as he had need.”
From the beginning of the church and on through the rest of the New Testament, there is a recurring theme among Christians… Take care of each other… Watch out for each other… Meet the needs of others… Love others as yourself… Carry each others burdens…This “others first” mentality that the church had was the reflection of Jesus' ministry which was all about meeting needs and helping the hurting.
Jesus' model was simply this: Preach the Good News, and accompany that good news with Good Deeds. People cared about Jesus' message because He cared about their needs! This is the mentality that we have tried to adopt at Northside. We try to meet needs and care for people, so that they will be interested in what we have to say about Jesus. We try to accompany the Good News with Good Deeds so that others will be drawn to Jesus, and so that believers will be cared for.
