The second of our 3 pursuits is "Community!" We desire to help each person enter into community with other believers who are growing as disciples of Jesus. At Northside, one of the best ways to experience this kind of community is Small Groups!
Small Groups
Small Groups at Northside are simply groups of 8-12 people growing together as disciples of Jesus. Groups typically meet in homes, and decide up front how best to grow together as followers of Jesus. A group might be made up of young couples, empty nesters, singles, single parents or couples with children, and everything in between. What matters most is that Small Groups at Northside exist for the purpose of glorifying Jesus and making disciples of Him.
So how do we go about doing this? At Northside, our Small Groups use a threefold process to grow into disciples who love and serve Jesus:
Gather:
Even Jesus didn't walk through life alone. He had people. Twelve close friends, doing life together with Him. If we're going to follow Jesus, it's essential we do life with some close friends of our own. That's where Small Groups come in. By Gathering regularly for between 12-18 months, sharing life, eating together, and caring for each other in life's rough spots, Small Group members naturally become almost like an extended family.
Grow:
Jesus wants us to know Him and His radical love for us. We do that by walking with Him daily—letting Him teach us, forgive us, transform us, and use us for His glory. That's why the core purpose of our Small Groups is to help you Grow deeper with Jesus every week. Groups do this through regular study and discussion of the Bible, praying for each other, and encouraging each other to spend time with Jesus daily.
Go:
Anyone walking with Jesus has been gifted by the Holy Spirit in some way to go serve the Church and be missionaries to our culture. Jesus Himself told us to love God, love people, and go make other disciples of Him. That's why our Small Group members intentionally encourage each other to discover how Jesus has gifted us and what He's calling us to do, so we can obediently Go do it.
